Patty Mills and Joe Ingles

The Golden State Warriors have just released their Summer League roster and schedule and the good news for Aussie basketball fans is that Joe Ingles will be suiting up for the Warriors.

He won't be without challengers for playing time though, as the squad includes high profile rookie Stephen Curry (G), soph SG sensation Anthony Morrow and Anthony Randolph (F) who has reportedly been bulking up during the off-season.

That said, there will still be room for the Warriors to take a look at Jingles and they wouldn't have brought him on board unless they thought he was worth a shot.

Meanwhile, Patty Mills will suit up for the Portland Trail Blazers in Summer League play and have the chance to impress the Blazers' brass. He'll be sharing time with incumbent Summer League superstar, Jerryd Bayless, but GM Kevin Pritchard has already made it clear that they may share the backcourt at times.

From Australia's Fox Sports:

"We didn't think Mills would be there at 55," Pritchard said.

"It got in the late 30s and 40s and he was pretty high on our board. We were really hoping he would get there, because as we go through our process, he was the highest watermark for us. We feel pretty lucky to get him. I don't want to get too excited about the 55th pick in the draft, but it's really not where you get picked, it's how you feel about a kid."

"This kid is going to come in and compete. We know that. He's competed at an international level. He's had success at the Olympics."

Pretty strong words from the GM. Now it's up to Patty to prove that he can stick with the Blazers as that third point guard behind Steve Blake (or Andre Miller if rumours are to be believed) and Jerryd Bayless. Then it would just be a matter of biding his time and waiting for his opportunities and making better use of them then recent departee Sergio Rodriguez did.

The Australian Boomers have been out and about, playing the might of China (minus Yao Ming and Yi Jianlian). Whilst the team has not been successful, these matchs are moreso a testing ground for the team makeup. Nathan Jawai has been promising, as has James Harvey. JR, On Fire has more on the games. NBL.com.au also has video highlights.
