Are you ready for Juwan Howard Jr? E-mail

Juwan Howard JrThis season we've seen that Juwan Howard has still got it, even for an old man. At almost 37-years of age, the wily former Fab Fiver expected to be a veteran presence with the Portland Trail Blazers, not an on-court contributor. But already this season we've seen some big performances from Howard, even a huge dunk on Chris Kaman recently. He's even put up two double-doubles this season and has scored in double-digits eight times, which is eight times more than he would have expected to.

Now, coming onto the scene is Juwan Howard Junior. The 6'4" high school senior has signed with Western Michigan and is trying to draw out his own basketball path, though he comes from a very strong basketball heritage. Not only is Juwan Jr's dad an NBA star, but his mother and aunt (twins) were ballers in their own right.

Detroit Free Press has a great and lengthy article on the next Juwan and the guidance he gets from his mother and aunt, whilst Juwan Sr is away balling professionally. It's worth a read.

"Markita was the better of the two, but Nakita might argue that point. Markita was runner-up for Miss Basketball and averaged 19.4 points, eight rebounds, five assists and hit 60% of her three-point shots.

“She was a very aggressive, fast guard that could shoot the ball very well from the three,” recalled Birmingham Marian coach Mary Cicerone, whose teams beat Murray-Wright in the semifinals when the twins were sophomores and lost to them in the quarterfinals when they were seniors. “They were both great defenders is what I remember. Their quickness caused problems bringing the ball up the floor.”
