NBA Jam on Wii: first look E-mail
Written by mookie

Well, as discussed recently, NBA Jam is back! There's a great NBA Jam-themed post here at NBA Mate. But I digress.

The reason for this post was to show you this brief, but awe-inspiring screenshot from the game and reveal a few more details which I've gleaned from the internets. The picture below was unearthed by go nintendo from Nintendo Power magazine.

NBA Jam on Wii

The realistic photo faces tacked onto computerised bodies is all kinds of wonderful, for that kitschness that we fondly remember from the early days of NBA Jam. More details on the game, from go nintendo (via neogaf):

- player faces switch with a blur effect, as to keep them from being to jarring when they rotate
- when they pull off a good play, they run back up-court with a smile/goofy face
- when they do poorly, they have a sad face
- Players can be substituted at halftime
- unlockable mascots
- old school legends(Larry Bird and more)

You want more information? Well here are the controls for the wiimote:

- A button passes
- B button is turbo
- Swipe controller side to side to execute crossover(offense) or steal attempt(defense)
- Shooting and Blocking are a two part gesture much like that in Wii Sports Resort Basketball.
- Pull the Wii remote up to jump, then flick forward to release the ball on offense, or swat at ball on defense
- To pull of a dunk simply hold the turbo button, and use the same gestures as if you were shooting the ball
- Holding turbo while swiping the controller side to side will execute the trademark shove (on defense)
- Holding the turbo while swiping on offense will execute a spin move which can counter the shove

Voting is now open for the T-Wolves, Grizzlies and Warriors. Click the button below to go and cast your votes.

Vote NBA Jam Wii

For the Wolves, I've voted for Al Jefferson along with two quicks in Ramon Sessions and Jonny Flynn, though Corey Brewer increased his NBA Jam cred with that dunk over Derek Fisher, for sure.

The Grizz is all about OJ Mayo, Rudy Gay and... Z-Bo, just because I want to see his big head in the game.

The Warriors is one of those teams (like the Hawks) that is just designed for NBA Jam (if not real NBA basketball). You really couldn't go wrong with any of the six on offer, but I'm voting Corey Maggette, Monta "Scooter" Ellis and Andris Biedrins for shot-blocking, leaving out Anthony Morrow, Stephen Curry and Anthony Randolph.

You've got five days left to vote in this round.
