LeBron James erases AJ Price E-mail

As blocks go, this one was pretty impressive. LeBron James absolutely destroyed AJ Price of the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday. One thing which came to mind upon watching this was the value of a blocked shot versus a steal. This has been discussed in various places in recent times and from a logistical viewpoint, there has to be more value in a steal than a block. A steal ensures possession, whilst a block in many cases (such as this one) results in the ball returning to the attacking team. Regardless, this is thrilling to watch.

Blocks can get into the heads of the opposition more than steals though, where players are thinking about the last time they were blocked or trying to avoid a shotblocker (and missing the shot), steals don't really have that impact.

Good point, DJ. I will admit that -- much like a dunk can be worth more than a layup in terms of impact, a block has a psychological effect. Fo sho.

I'm saying that as a big guy who usually led the league in blocks in any comp I played in, so there might be some big man bias there, hah smilies/smiley.gif
