Rick Kamla's rant at LeBron James E-mail

Rick Kamla had another rant at LeBron James yesterday and I have to say that I agree with almost everything that Rick says. The latest quotes regarding the scoring title don't matter so much to me -- it is more that he has built up a history of arrogance and shown a lack of respect for his fans and the rest of the league. The attention-seeking "I'm retiring #23 for the whole league" scenario, along with the spotlight-grabbing "I'm declaring myself in the 2010 Dunk Contest" quote, only to pull out, were selfish moves by James. Eventually he needs to learn to not think about marketing and hyping himself and think about giving back to the people that ultimately pay his salary: his fans.

Kobe Bryant gave up his arrogance over time as he matured. He gained a lot more respect along the way. I was one of the Kobe-haters back in the day. But finally (and amazingly given my former stance), he has grown on me. He respects his teammates, he respects the league and most importantly when he talks on camera he is respectful to his fans and fellow competitors (see his handling of the Shaq sagas).

LeBron has become such a toss in the last couple of years. When he came into the league he was exciting... now... well, I agree with rick.

i suppose kobe has better reasons to have softened up on his personality considering he could have gone to jail. that kind of experience probably wakes you up a little bit and help you see things in a different light. lebron may be arrogant but he hasn't committed any crimes. yet. maybe he has no reason to see things in a different light as of yet.

Yeah, well Kobe did make mistakes and he learnt from them. Perhaps LeBron needs something big to stop him from being so arrogant too.

Hopefully Gilbert Arenas' experience will turn him into less of a w4nker too!

May be today's best player. But he is the most arrogant MBA player I have ever seen, a complete a-hole who disrespects the game and the fans. Yes as written by people above, Kobe was that too, but I think of a lesser degree. LBJ doesn't deserve to win a ring. He may get one, but he don't and deserve it if act this way.

To me Kobe seems fake as hell now. It's funny when you see the "real" Kobe sneak through his "I'm a great teammate!" exterior when things aren't going all his way.

LeBron seems the opposite to me, generally seems like a great teammate but occasionally the arrogant asshole side of him is on display. Well more than occasionally, but yeah.

Firts of all Kobe hasn't committed any crimes (anyone can accus you of something), he was not found guilty of anything and before you judge know the facts and not hear say as it was obvious she was lying. I will agree he did learn from it. People please give Kobe credit as he has grown up and mature with age and he is not fake, he is not Ghetto like LeBron.....If Kobe was to had acted like LeBron the media and haters would have hung him and still be talking about him

I think the key point here is that Kobe has definitely learnt from his mistakes and has grown from them (the Colorado incident, the Kidd-Bynum parking lot incident). He got massively dissed for those things and was smart enough to give the fans what they want. I can't think of anything recent that people can objectively say bad about Kobe as a person.

LeBron perhaps needs to be publicly dissed like this for his own emotional maturity. Let's not forget that he is still a young man -- one that has not been able to grow normally outside of the spotlight like most of the rest of us have. He may be a master on the basketball court, but he still has plenty to learn off it.

Does all of this make him less of a basketball player? No way. But as an overall person and one who wants to market himself off the court through endorsements, he needs to have a long hard look at himself.

I was worse at 25, he's doing a good job considering he's a super human compared to the rest of us. You can't compare LeBron to yourself as you will never be rich and famous at the tender age of 25, considering that he is on par with the other super humans at the age of 25 and probably doing better, and much better than Kobe when he was 25.
